What is a Royal Resistance class like?

Royal Resistance (RR) is a high tempo, equipment based, functional training class in a supportive group based environment. This varied high intensity class is delivered throughout the week keeping you motivated and gaining great results. No one-hour class is ever the same and we always have fun!

RR classes alternate between working out with weights, battle ropes, tractor tyres, kettle bells, pull up rig, assault bikes, sleds and much more to keep shocking your body!

All classes take place in a high-energy and encouraging environment. The motivating music, and inspiring instructors will motivate you to run, lift, and work harder than ever before!


Will I be okay if I’m a beginner or not already in shape?

You do not need to worry! We welcome all beginners and have a lot of them training and progressing with their fitness journey. We look after all of our first-timers.

To make the most of your first class, we recommend arriving 10 minutes early so we can explain the workout, show you RR and introduce you to your instructor.

Royal Resistance classes are challenging and designed to push you to the next level and get more out of your workout. We endeavor to offer different repetition ranges, time ranges and weight options to give you the choice to work at a lower intensity. For total beginners, you can choose to rest and join in when you have recovered from the previous exercise.


How often should I go?

We recommend three to four classes per week as an optimal number, with two classes per week at a minimum, if you’re committed to seeing a real change in your body and your energy levels.

Listen to your body — if your muscles are very sore, give them time to repair themselves and get to a yoga class/stretching class to help recover.


How long will it take to see results?

Members see results fast! If you are training 3-5 times a week, you should start to see & feel a change in your body in two weeks. Your loved ones will probably see a difference in five weeks. But you will notice a psychological changes almost immediately. You’ll feel better about yourself, you’ll have more energy and you’ll be more motivated to train, and seeing the heads whipping around as you stroll by doesn’t exactly hurt your ego!

How to book my first class?

Book classes via the web site or download the Royal Resistance App. You will need to create an account the first time you book a class/membership. Save your account details for future bookings. You may book classes up to 7 or 14 days in advance depending on your membership.

If a class if full then add your name to the waiting list and you will be auto enrolled once someone cancels their spot from that class.

You will also have to fill out a PARQ health questionnaire when you first set up your account.


How do I cancel a Class?

If you can not make a class then please cancel your spot on that class. This needs to be done by yourself via the Royal Resistance App. This must be done two hours before the class is due to start. If you do not cancel before this time window you will be charged £7.50 for a late cancel/no show. The fee is automated by the Royal Resistance booking app. Cancelling your spot enables someone on the waiting list to be auto enrolled into that class.

 


What are the costs?

First timers costs £15 for three classes to see if Royal Resistance is a good fit for you. After that we offer the below options.

Gold Members costs £60 every four weeks and you can train multiple times per day and book 14 days in advance.

Junior/Youth membership is £30 every four weeks.

PAYG £10 per class. 

All payments are made via the Royal Resistance app (booking system). All payments are made via the booking system. Select book a class and then pick the best option for you.

 


Can I use the gym on my own?

The gym is only open for the classes listed on the web site and for PT use. All classes are lead by an expert instructor to push you that bit further with the correct guidence! If you would like to privately book the space then please email steve@royalresistance.co.uk for further details.


How do I cancel my membership?

If you need to cancel your membership then please drop us an emailing stating you would like to cancel your membership. There is a 30 day notice period to cancel. Please email contact@royalresistance.co.uk


Where is the location of Royal Resistance?

We are located off Pegler’s Square on Anderson Way.

Where is the best place to park?

There is parking in Pegler’s Square car park which is under the gym. Follow SE3 9GU to access this car park. You will exit by Sainsbury and have to cross over the Square towards Royal Resistance. To get back into the car park you will have to head across Pegler’s Square again and down to the car park.

There is also 2 hours free parking at Aldi SE3 9PP which is a short walk from Royal Resistance.

Do you run white collar boxing classes?

At Royal Resistance we offer a range of boxing classes to support everyone right through from beginners to elite boxers. We do not specifically run white collar boxing classes or events but our boxing classes are designed to help you develop your strength, skill and techniques. What are the opening hours?

Royal Resistance works differently to other commercial gyms that you may be used to. We are not open all day to pop in when you like. We are only open for specific class and coaches are present for those classes which are bookable via the Royal Resistance app. We find having instructor lead classes deliver results, keeps the members safe and makes training more social and fun!

What equipment do I require for boxing class?

After the pandemic most people have their own gloves. We recommend 14oz as they can also be used for sparring. hand wraps 2-4m help protect your wrist. Please see the list below for the equipment we recommend.
